In her Commencement Speech to the Wellesley College Class of 1990, during her early days as First Lady, Barbara Bush told the graduating class: “You must read to your children, you must hug your children and you must love your children. Your success as a family, our success as a society, depends not on what happens in the White House, but on what happens inside your house.”
There are many challenges that we face as parents today in order to put our family first. Our jobs and an endless number of activities seem to take away our days and weeks… One way to counteract these demands is by setting home times in our agenda. To make time for peace, without devices, in which our children can get bored and we can all be doing nothing. From there will emerge the simple joy of sharing a meal, a game, a walk; we will learn to tell stories and work together and laugh at nothing…
We wish you a peaceful and happy summer of family rest!
